Successful ventures
24th January 2022
On 17th January in 1773 Captain James Cook became the first person to cross the Arctic Circle. We can only imagine how difficult this must have been with rudimentary resources and no satnav! Each school year can feel like an expedition in itself, we set out with high hopes, enthusiasm and new shiny shoes yet as the winter nights drag on it can be hard to remember the progress we have made or even where we started from! Finding time to stop and reflect can help to reaffirm all we have achieved.
Our trainee teachers are about to complete the first phase of their training and mentors are busy reflecting on the progress they have made. From green shoots they are now growing in confidence, taking on more teaching and refining their practice. When they venture off onto their second placement after half term they will have increased confidence and a whole host of strategies to use that they have learnt since September.
In a busy school, time is often our greatest enemy. There is always another task to complete or a deadline to meet. On Friday the Trust Executive Group took a short time to remember all that has been achieved from our action plan, we were amazed by how much everyone had done when we paused for one moment! Maybe this week you can pause too and remember something you have achieved since the school year began? Whether this a new classroom approach, a development within your school building or success in delivering a project these are all to be celebrated.
Well done and thank you!
