What is the best thing about working in a school? Is it the interaction with pupils and their families? Is it the sense of community?
For each of us it will probably be something slightly different.
When we interview prospective trainee teachers we ask them what they imagine the role of a teacher to be and what they hope to achieve. These eager, excited new recruits often talk about their desire to make a difference, to give something back to the community and see the progress pupils make.
All of these are commendable reasons for joining the profession and ones that will motivate trainees in their future career beyond the training year.
What do I love about being in school? For me, it always has to be about the pupils as this is our core purpose. The interactions, their comments and their progress can bring delight to any day and remind us of the difference schools make.
I am in the lucky position of being able to visit many schools over a year and everywhere I go there is always something to see and learn.
As we develop as a Trust there will be much that we can learn by visiting each other, developing our networks and sharing good practice - being learning partners, learning together, learning from each other and sharing our learning. At the centre will always be that thought that schools really are the best place to work and to have all our schools working together as a collective makes it even better!
