One more step along the world I go
1st July 2022
The music festival season is upon us with Paul McCartney rocking the Pyramid Stage! This got me thinking of the role music plays in our schools through productions, concerts or simply singing together. When teaching myself, singing assembly was one of the highlights of the week and it never failed to make me smile. At this time of year we would always revisit that old favourite ‘One More Step Along the World I Go’ (how many of you are now humming the tune now?) It’s jaunty, uplifting and the words are so relatable which is why we returned to it year after year. The words of the chorus are: ‘And it’s from the old I travel to the new, Keep me travelling along with you’
We are entering that phase of the school year when we start to take the next step of our education or teaching career. We are busy meeting our next class, teacher or setting and we all remain part of that journey whilst working together.
This week our Trainee Teachers from the Class of 2022 will be awarded QTS and will stride out into their teaching career. They have worked hard this year applying everything they have learnt. They are more than ready for the next step and we wish them well in their teaching career. 30% of the cohort will be employed in Trust schools which is testament to how you who have made them feel welcome and supported through the year.
Thank you! I look forward to hearing them ‘leap and sing in all they do, as they keep on travelling along with you!’
