Welcome back and Happy New Year!
6th January 2023
Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year and welcome to our first bulletin of 2023.
We have had a strong start to 2023 with an engaging trust wide Inset day for all of our colleagues. Many thanks to those of you who have provided feedback to us for the day. This has been our first hopefully, of many Inset days across our growing trust. We managed to host almost 1200 staff across the day. Sincere thanks to everyone who was involved in the planning and delivery of the three separate events. It is no easy feat organising events on this scale, we do appreciate those of you who gave up some of your Christmas break to put this together.
All of our classroom-based staff had the pleasure of hearing Peps Mccrea talk about memory and the importance of acknowledging our learners' cognitive load when considering how we deliver curriculum content. Peps wanted me to pass on his thanks for being such an engaging audience and he was keen to see how far we have come as a trust with our thinking and practical use of trust wide teaching and learning pedagogy. Peps is Dean of both Best Practice and Learning design at the Ambition Institute.
Ambition Institute is a national education charity whose aim is to help schools tackling educational disadvantage to keep getting better and help their teachers and school leaders to become more expert over time.
Ambition Institute publish many educational research papers which I fully commend to you as part of your wider professional reading including Peps' published series on High Impact Teaching or if you just fancy a 5-minute read, then do sign up to Peps' email snacks https://snacks.pepsmccrea.com
We will be starting our planning for next year’s event before too long. We know, through evidence that highly performing MATs align their schools around a common model of school improvement where stakeholders are involved in shaping the content and delivery, so please do send in your feedback so that we can make sure we meet your professional needs in the future.
As an aside, we will shortly be publishing an updated CPD brochure for the remainder of the academic year. Please do get in touch with any of the School Improvement team if there is something you would like us to host, a service to offer us or a contact of someone inspirational.
Wishing you a motivated and memorable term ahead!
