Smiling faces and a bright future
22nd August 2024
Fabulous GCSE results reflect the hard work and dedication of students and school staff alike.
Students across Learning Partners Academy Trust from Fullbrook in Addlestone, George Abbot, Guildford County and Kings in Guildford, and Glebelands in Cranleigh are celebrating strong GCSE grades today. This year’s cohort, like many before them, faced the challenge of a rigorous and gruelling exam timetable, which spanned several weeks, followed by an anxious wait for results. Today, their efforts are being celebrated and they can look to the future with enthusiasm and excitement.
We are delighted to share the trust-wide collective set of results below:
9 - 7 = 31.90%
9 - 5 = 68.32%
9 - 4 = 80.85%
Grade 4+ in En & Ma = 79.89%
Grade 5+ in En & Ma = 64.23%
The journey to these results is anything but easy. Students undertake a demanding exam timetable, often sitting multiple exams in a single day, which requires tireless preparation and a bullish focus. The months leading up to the exams are filled with revision, practice, and honing exam techniques, all of which demand a strong level of commitment from the students, their families and school staff.
Whilst all staff at the trust are immensely proud of the impressive GCSE results, they firmly believe that education is about much more than just grades. Their commitment is to provide a holistic education that nurtures well-rounded individuals, fostering not only academic success but also the development of strong character, resilience, and emotional intelligence. They strive to create an environment where students grow into confident, compassionate, and responsible members of society, equipped with the skills and values they need to thrive in all aspects of life. Success in exams is important, but the true measure of education lies in the character and integrity the students carry forward.
Jack Mayhew, CEO of Learning Partners Academy Trust said “Our students should be incredibly proud of themselves, the results today are a true reflection of their hard work and enthusiasm for learning. It is a difficult journey for a young person but one where they develop important life skills. Many congratulations to all and thank you to all the staff within the schools who provide superb support.”
Anna Wallis, Head of School at Fullbrook said “Our students have shown incredible perseverance and dedication throughout this challenging exam season. They’ve worked tirelessly, and today’s results are a testament to their hard work and the outstanding support they’ve received from our staff. Many congratulations and I am looking forward to welcoming many back in September to Fullbrook 6.”
Kate Carriett, Headteacher at George Abbot School said “These results demonstrate the dedication and high standards of our students and their teachers. The success of our young people is well-deserved, and I am delighted that many will be returning to our sixth form. Whatever path they have chosen to follow, I know they will all continue to flourish in their future endeavours.”
Russell Mitchell, Headteacher at Glebelands School said “There is much to celebrate today, not only the fabulous results that our students have received this morning but also the remarkable development that they have undergone. From nervous year 7s to resilient, confident and engaging young adults. We couldn’t be prouder of our GCSE students today, we wish them every success in the future, and know they will be brilliant.
Steve Smith, Headteacher at Guildford County School said “We are delighted with the results published today. They reflect the exceptional commitment and maturity our students have shown towards their education and the support demonstrated by our dedicated staff. We look forward to welcoming back many of the cohort and wish those moving on great success in their new ventures. We are still accepting new applications to our Sixth Form and welcome any enquiries”
Alastair McKenzie, Executive Principal at Kings College and Fullbrook said
"We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements this year. Their dedication, resilience, and hard work have truly paid off, and these outstanding results are a testament to their commitment and to the invaluable support from their families and our staff. We are very sad to see them go but excited for their futures. We wish them great success.”
The exam period and waiting for results can be the cause of great stress for all involved. But, with a trust-wide focus on a holistic approach to education, and strong pastoral care, students at the trust have survived their GCSE journey which has been an education in itself and has increased their resilience and stamina.
