Southborough High School joins Learning Partners as an Associate Member
20th September 2024
Learning Partners Academy Trust is delighted to welcome Southborough High School in Surbiton as an associate member with a view to joining the trust fully in Summer 2025, following a period of consultation.
The growing trust is a cross-phase organisation comprising 16 schools across Surrey with five secondary schools, one specialist sixth form, six all through primaries, two junior schools and two infant schools. Southborough will become the sixth secondary school and benefit from many aspects of the trust school improvement offer and operational support during this period of associate membership, prior to becoming a full member.
This strategic move follows six years of thorough planning and evaluation by Southborough’s Senior Leadership Team and Local Governing Body. Learning Partners was chosen because it was felt that the trust would ensure that Southborough will successfully reach its long-term objectives of achieving excellence for all students, becoming the number one choice for local families, enhancing staff recruitment, training and retention, and facilitating collaboration and reciprocity in order to secure excellence for all.
Southborough is a confident, dynamic school where students thrive both academically and socially. The school believes in ensuring all students achieve their absolute best in public examinations, however they also nurture, celebrate and encourage other achievements. Students participate and excel in a wide range of extra-curricular, vocational and community-based activities, which help them become well-rounded adults. The school is well known locally for its pastoral care which results in high standards of behaviour and excellent attitudes to learning.
Jack Mayhew, CEO of Learning Partners Academy Trust, warmly welcomed Southborough High School into the trust: “We are thrilled to welcome Southborough High School as an associate member of our trust. Together, we will work to bring significant benefits to Southborough’s pupils, families, and staff. Collaboration lies at the heart of what we do, and we look forward to supporting Southborough in achieving its goals for educational excellence.”
Niall Smith, Headteacher at Southborough High School, expressed his excitement about the new partnership: “We are excited to work with Learning Partners and believe that this partnership will provide our students with even greater opportunities for success. By working together with other schools in the trust, we can share best practices, improve our outcomes, and enhance the educational experience for all our pupils.”
