Culture in Schools
18th October 2024
As we continue working together to provide the best possible education for our students, I would like to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of school culture and the vital role each of us plays in shaping it.
A positive school culture is the cornerstone of student and staff success. It fosters a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where both students and staff can thrive. When we uphold high expectations, model respect, and encourage collaboration, we create a school climate where both students and staff feel valued and are motivated to achieve their best.
Your daily interactions—both with students and with one another—contribute to the culture of our school. Whether it is showing patience, offering encouragement, or working together as a team, the energy you bring directly impacts the learning experience.
So how do we explore the culture of our schools and of the trust as a whole? I was reading a book last week – No hard feelings: Emotions at Work and How They Help Us succeed. In that book, there was a short statement that can be asked in order to find out about an organisation’s culture that really resonated with me:
“Tell me a story about something that would only happen here”
What’s your story? Let us know. We would love to hear it.
